Along with studying economics as an undergraduate at the College of William & Mary, Michael Eugene Goldak has participated in sports, playing on the school’s baseball and club basketball teams. As a student-athlete, Michael E. Goldak belongs to William & Mary’s long tradition of academics and athletics. In addition to four US presidents, the school’s alumni include a number of notable figures from the world of sports:
Mike Tomlin (1995)
The current head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, this sociology major caught 20 touchdowns as a wide receiver for the Tribe. He holds distinction as the youngest Super Bowl-winning head coach in NFL history.
Jill Ellis (1988)
Over a 5-year tenure as head coach of the US Women’s National Team, Jill Ellis guided the squad to two consecutive World Cups. Before establishing herself as the all-time winningest coach in the history of US soccer, she stood out as a third-team all-American forward for the Tribe.
Lou Creekmur (1950)
This lineman excelled in both college and the pros, going 27-10-3 during his career at William & Mary, and winning three NFL championships as a member of the Detroit Lions. In recognition of his accomplishments, he has earned induction into the William & Mary Athletics Hall of Fame and the NFL Hall of Fame.
