Becoming More Outgoing When You’re Shy

Goldak maintains an approachable and outgoing nature. Even if you are shy, trying some of the following steps helps you become more outgoing:

1. Start small - Begin with simple things, like making eye contact more or smiling during your conversations. Over time, being outgoing will become more natural since you will master these small things first.

2. Observe and adjust - Look at people around you and pay attention to how they respond to things you say and other social cues. This includes paying attention to body language, along with actively listening to people. Doing so gives you an idea of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to social interactions, thus granting you the opportunity to adjust your behavior in the future.

3. Take risks - Meeting new people makes almost everyone nervous, but it is equally important that you go outside your own comfort zone. This boosts your confidence and shows you that you can handle uncomfortable situations. Keep in mind the rule of starting small. With taking risks, starting a conversation with the barista at a coffee shop is still a significant step in the right direction.
